Youth Division

The Student Division at Northeast Ohio Dance is designed for dancers ages 7 and up who are ready to further their ballet training. These classes focus on strengthening technique, developing artistry, and exploring a variety of dance styles. Placement within the Student Division is based on each dancer’s individual progress, ensuring they receive the appropriate level of challenge and support. New students interested in this division must take a placement class, allowing our faculty to assess their skills and recommend the best class for their continued growth.

*The decision of level placement is at the discretion of the Artistic Director and instructors.*

**Dancers in Level 2 and above who aspire to dance on pointe are strongly encouraged to take at least two ballet technique classes per week. Proper pointe readiness is determined by a dancer’s development, strength, alignment, and ability to maintain correct placement. Students taking only one ballet class per week will not be considered for pointe work.**

***  To ensure each student’s safety, health, and long-term success in their ballet training, The decision to allow a dancer to begin pointe training is made at the discretion of the Artistic Director and instructors ***

Ballet Levels 1-5

While students in the Dance FUNdamentals Division typically progress based on age, advancement in the Youth and Pre-Professional divisions is determined by a combination of factors, including age, ability, and maturity. Each dancer's journey is unique, and it is common for students to spend multiple years at a level before advancing. Additionally, dancers may be placed in different groupings within a level to best support their technical and artistic development. While levels are based on overall skill, these groupings allow dancers to train alongside peers with similar strengths and areas for growth.
